Sail Day 1 1/5/08

1/5/08 Andy (my trusty first mate) and I ventured out after a big breakfast into a rough sea reefed down in a force 4/5. We both felt a bit on the queasy side.
After about 4 hours and going out past North stack we headed back in to Holyhead for lunch.
In the afternoon we set off about 1700 we went out to the Langdon Ridge and the Skerries and saw guillemots, gannets and puffins headed back against the wind. Wanting to go for a curry we decided to use the engine. After about an hour the engine cut out and we couldn't find the reason so we sailed all the way back and got in at about 11 just after dark, tired and missing the thought of the beer and curry!. I compensated by improvising a slap up gnosh of spaghetti and a nice red wine. Subsequently I found a fuel tap that had been knocked by the oars, won't fall for that one next time. The picture of Lady Ash is her in the first berth we could manage when we got back. I moved her round when I got the fuel flowing again! A good test of all my hard work on Lady Ash over the winter though. 23NM.
